Our March installment of our faculty tech professional development series is called “UzN ur fone 4 teaching: Strategies for teaching with mobile devices.”

Learners of all ages are bringing extremely powerful tools into classrooms every day. These aren’t laptop computers, but instead the very phones that sit in their pockets. With more computing power than desktop computers 10 years ago, modern mobile devices have a tremendous amount of power to positively influence the learning process and to build collaborative classrooms.

The FACT Lab (factuic.org) will be hosting a workshop on strategies for using the tools that students most frequently bring into classrooms: their mobile phones and other devices! We will be discussing ways that mobile devices can be used in teaching, identifying how to ask questions around mobile devices to pair them to teaching strategies in ways that work, and to demo many of the free and easy-to-use tools and apps for teaching.

When: Friday, March 1 at 10:00am
Where: EPSW Commons
What: A workshop on the possibilities of mobile phones, tablets, and apps in teaching (for all ages, K-12 & college!)

Bring a couple of questions of your own to discuss with the FACT Lab coordinators and other participants! Our goal is to work through real examples of these tools and to identify strategies that can fit your teaching practice.
